Breakfast in Louth

Where to have a full English, an all-day breakfast or a lazy brunch in Louth, from town centre cafés to country pubs.

Breakfast in Louth

Louth does a good breakfast. In the centre, The Masons Arms on Cornmarket serves food from 8am every day, Archies cooks breakfasts daily from 9am, Quirkies Cafe serves breakfast all day, and Tabula Rasa makes vegan and vegetarian versions of its breakfasts. Head to the edge of town and The Woolpack Inn at Riverhead serves breakfast every morning too.

Whether you're after a proper fry-up before a day in the Wolds, a quick bacon bun on a market day or a slow brunch with friends, here's where to go.

Breakfast in the Town Centre

The Masons Arms, Cornmarket

The early bird's choice. The bistro at The Masons Arms serves food from 8am every day, which makes it handy before work or an early start. On Sundays it's a brunch menu until 11.30am, before Sunday lunch takes over at midday.

Archies, Pawnshop Passage

A family-run café bar tucked off the main streets, Archies serves cooked breakfasts every day from 9am, with coffee from Alvingham Coffee Roasters. It has both breakfast and brunch on the menu, so it works for a weekday fry-up and a lazier weekend start alike. See the Archies menu.

Tabula Rasa Bistro and Deli, Elizabeth Court

Tabula Rasa is a little bistro that does breakfast and lunch, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options throughout. Order "A Bit of Breakfast" if you're peckish, or "One of Everything" if you're not, and both come in vegetarian and vegan versions. The Tabula Rasa menu has the details. When it moved to bigger premises at Elizabeth Court in May 2026 it brought in an all-day breakfast, so ask what's being served when you call in.

The King's Head, Mercer Row

For a sit-down hotel breakfast, The King's Head serves breakfast Monday to Saturday until 12 noon. As well as a full English there are eggs Benedict or Royale, smashed avocado, ham and eggs, breakfast buns and a vegetarian option.

Cafés for a Cooked Breakfast

  • Quirkies Cafe, Cornmarket: a big family-run café with an all-day breakfast, a children's play area, and a menu for dogs too.
  • Alfredo Lounge, Market Place: an all-day café bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, right on the square.
  • Tina's Cafe, Cornmarket: a town centre café with gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian choices.
  • Beverly's Cafe, Eastgate: breakfasts, lunches, and tea and cake.
  • The Toadstool, Queen Street: a café and takeaway doing breakfasts as well as pizzas and burgers.

On the Edge of Town

The Woolpack Inn, Riverhead Road. This listed inn near the old canal at Riverhead serves breakfast from 9am to 11am every day: a full English, a smaller breakfast, a vegetarian breakfast, eggs Benedict and French toast. There's plenty of parking, and dogs are welcome. Riverhead was once Louth's busy canal port, and you can read about it in Georgian Louth.

Drakes at Crowtree Lodge, Crowtree Lane. The restaurant and bar at Louth Golf Club serves breakfast and lunch every day, and it's open to everyone, golfers or not.

Crowtree Café, Crowtree Lane. Just along the lane, this woodland café opens at 8am every day, so it's a good early coffee stop before a walk round Hubbard's Hills.

Betties of Louth, Fairfield. A family-run dog café on Bolingbroke Road serving breakfasts and lunches, and a handy stop if you work on the Fairfield estate.

Breakfast in the Villages

Out at Saltfleetby, The Prussian Queen serves breakfast every day from 9am to 11.30am, with a full English, breakfast buns, muffins and toasted bagels on the Prussian Queen menu. It's on the way to the coast, so it's a good stop on the way to Saltfleet or Mablethorpe beach. Read more in A New Chapter at The Prussian Queen.

Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten-Free Breakfasts

Tabula Rasa is the stand-out here, with vegetarian and vegan versions of both its breakfasts and gluten-free options across the menu. Tina's Cafe offers gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian choices, The King's Head has a vegetarian breakfast, and The Woolpack's vegetarian breakfast is on its menu every morning. Wherever you go, mention an allergy when you order, especially on a busy Saturday.

Bottomless Brunch

For a celebration, The Masons Arms runs a bottomless brunch every day from 9am to 2pm: an hour of prosecco with a breakfast sharing board. Book it by phone. The Prussian Queen advertises a bottomless brunch too, booked in advance.
