New management has taken over at The Prussian Queen on Main Road in Saltfleetby, and the team hasn't wasted any time spreading the word. A run of new posters announces the change and promotes daily breakfasts, Sunday roasts, games nights, karaoke, a bottomless brunch and a Christmas menu.
A Pub Aimed at Families
The pub now calls itself The Prussian Queen Bespoke Pub & Restaurant, and its updated description is clear about who it wants through the door. Families come first, with homemade food cooked from scratch, a choice of beers, wines and spirits, and a children's play area.
Something On Most Nights
Midweek is where the new team has put much of its effort. Monday evenings bring bingo, quizzes and a game of Higher or Lower from 7pm. "Wild Wednesdays" mix pool and darts practice with bingo and a quiz, while Thursdays turn competitive with pool and darts tournaments, a curry night and a two-bottles-for-£7 deal. Karaoke nights are on the list too.
Free Lifts From the Villages
The most unusual part of the relaunch is transport. For anyone who'd rather not drive to a country pub, The Prussian Queen is advertising free shuttle runs in a seven-seater, to and from Manby, Grimoldby, North Somercotes, Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe and the villages around them.
Lifts need booking in advance on 07522 567945. It's worth checking pick-up times and the journey home at the same time.
From Brunch to Christmas
Food runs right through the week, starting with breakfast every day from 9am to 11:30am. Sundays are for the homemade roast, served from midday with three meats, all the trimmings, and vegan and gluten-free options.
For more of an occasion, there's a bottomless brunch advertised at £40 per person for an hour of food and drinks, and a traditional Christmas menu at £60 per person, running from prawn cocktail and roast turkey to Christmas pudding with brandy custard. Christmas spaces are limited, and both need booking.
What Comes Next
The announcement introduces a landlord, a landlady and the wider team, though not by name, and doesn't say when they took over. More on the people behind the pub, and their plans for it, should follow.
In the meantime, the food, the weekly nights and the contact details are on The Prussian Queen's page, or you can call the pub on 01507 311216.
