Friendship and Company in Louth

Welcoming places to meet people, make things, share a meal or just have a cuppa and a chat.

Spending too much time on your own can wear you down. These local groups are about company: a cuppa, a chat, something to make or do, and a reason to get out of the house. None of them asks you to talk about how you're feeling if you'd rather not.

Louth Men's Shed

A workshop where men can work on hobbies, crafts and practical projects side by side, using shared tools and know-how. Projects benefit members and the wider community, and plenty of good conversation happens over the workbench. Members say it gets them out of the house and has helped them make good friends.

Befriending for Over-50s

If getting out is hard, company can come to you. Age UK Lincolnshire runs a countywide Befriending Service, matching people over 50 who feel lonely or isolated with a volunteer, with priority for people who find it hard to leave home. It depends on volunteers in your area, so call 01522 696 000 to ask, or see Age UK Lincolnshire's befriending page.

Age UK Lindsey, which used to run befriending around Louth, closed in 2025, so older phone numbers for it no longer work.
