Three years ago, when Tabula Rasa Bistro & Deli first opened its doors for the summer season, they put together their very first Ploughman’s. A simple idea on paper. Bread, cheese, ham, a few extras. Nothing fancy, but done properly.
Fast forward to now, and that same Ploughman’s has grown into something a bit special.
It’s still built around the same core though, and that’s what matters. Homemade ham, Lincolnshire cheeses, and all the bits that make a Ploughman’s worth ordering in the first place.
Quiche, pork pie, Scotch eggs, sausage rolls, coleslaw, potato salad. Not bought in, not assembled from packets. Made there, in-house.
And you can tell.
This year’s version has stepped things up again. Bigger portions, more going on, and clearly hitting the mark with customers if it’s “flying out” as quickly as they say. That doesn’t happen by accident. It usually means people are coming back for it, and probably bringing someone with them next time.
There’s something reassuring about places that stick with what works and quietly improve it year after year. No gimmicks, no overcomplication. Just good local food, made fresh, and served in a setting where you’re not being rushed out the door.
If you’ve not tried their Ploughman’s yet, you’re probably overdue.
